THE SEASONS
My journey with Vanessa started mid-winter at her home healing space, and completed in autumn at a beautiful horse farm airbnb we rented in the country fields. Throughout that time we explored themes of visibility, expansion, and play. Vanessa went into the process with a clear vision of the inspiring future she desires to create, and we used the photo sessions throughout the year to help her step more fully into this. Aligning the spaces we chose to the dream home she’s wanting to live in, creating a shot list that allows her to expand into the aspects of her business she’s desiring to build, and choosing to adorn her body in a way that embodies her future self. Everything in this experience was intentionally crafted with what felt most potent for her in each season.
Vanessa is no stranger to the camera, and stands with such a vivid presence both in front of the lens and when you are with her in person. During our time together we explored the places she still felt some discomfort in how she was showing up in her life and business. It was magnificent to be witness to her evolution over the course of the year, and the opening and ease that transpired from our first photo session to our last. I’m excited to share a few words that she shared about her experience, and peeks into the experience and expanse of imagery that we documented over the journey of our year together.
“It was so grounding to have photos that honoured where I was at, as I evolved in my life and business throughout the year.
“It was incredibly supportive for me and my business. It gave me that creative permission to play, and be seen however felt right to me in that season, knowing that the act of creating with Amber would fuel and inspire my business. I love approaching my time with Amber from a place of trusting and following my intuition and my feminine creativity. As someone who holds space a lot for others, and definitely strives with structure and routine it’s also so important for me to give myself moments where I get to step into the unknown and embrace the magic that unfolds when two creative people come together to bring a vision to life. It is an incredible experience when you really let yourself trust the process and the journey of creation.”

THE EXPERIENCE
VISIONING
Before each of our photoshoots, Vanessa and I had an Unearth the Vision session to ground into the energy of the season. We took time to explore and co-create the photoshoot that served her business focus at that time, as well as expanding areas of her personal expression. Feeling into what was inspiring her and what themes were showing up in her life at that time.
LOCATIONS
Each of our photoshoot locations were chosen specifically to support the vision for each session. Ranging from her home, local nature spaces, and a beautiful airbnb that we booked together to close our year together. We chose what felt most accessible, and most aligned for what she had visioned for each season.
STYLING
This was such a playful exercise, especially with someone who has a past of dancing and performing on stage. The outfits each season were so different, serving to embody the range of her dynamic being. From cozy & relatable, to 70’s musician vibe, to vintage & eclectic. Adorning herself was as an act of loving expression.
INTEGRATION
We created such a vast collection of imagery together (over 300+ photos & video vignettes). Giving Vanessa an extensive personal library of visuals to integrate into her website, social media posts, and marketing materials. Using these to shine a light on her current offerings with relevant and recent images to more deeply connect with her clients and followers.
“Having photos taken over the span of one year, and honouring the seasons of my life felt like such a gift to myself.
I loved getting to play with different spaces. It was so fulfilling to take photos of me and my life at home, with my dog, and be able to capture moments of our everyday life, our daily routine that has become ritual. This was photographed and made immortal.
I also loved the act of adornment, and tuning in to what clothing pieces want to be photographed and stepping outside the box to embody a new expression of myself. I loved wearing clothing that represents my future self and the woman I am becoming. This feels very expansive and sacred to me. It was all just so much fun! A great way for me to infuse my life and business with something that brings me joy.”
